Afrikan Jazz Fusion Project will be performing on New Year's Eve, 3:30p.m. at Humberstone Gate (free)On Sunday 9th October our Afrikan Jazz Fusion Project appeared at The Y as support to Mac Tontoh. The result was so successful that we were invited to appear at De Montfort Hall as support to Salif Keita on Thursday 9th November. Local artists will be performing an exciting new piece of Afrikan Jazz music, Sankofa, featuring vocalists, percussionists, and horn players. This original composition is the result of weeks of work resulting from workshops led by Ghanaian saxophonist, composer, educator, and author Tony Kofi of Grand Union Orchestra, Jazz Jamaica, Courtney Pine, and Queen Latifah fame. I just wanted to say what a fantastic night it was. Both bands were very good, and their diversity made for a great evening's entertainment. A great audience as well, and some new jazz fans I think. Thank you for all your hard work on this. Judi Hughes, Manager, Phoenix Arts
